About the Museum
The New Jersey State Museum was established in 1895-one of the nation's
first state museums founded with an educational mission. Today that
mission encompasses four areas: archaeology/ ethnology, cultural history,
fine art, and natural history. The State Museum combines four museums
in one providing a galaxy of experiences for every member of the family.
Treasures are exhibited thematically in a modern four-level main building
overlooking the Delaware River and are enhanced by exciting programs
offered in an adjoining 150-seat planetarium and adjacent 380-seat auditorium.

THE FRIENDS MUSEUM SHOP
The Friends Museum Shop is located at the Welcome Center of the State House Annex. The Shop is open from 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday. During December all State employees receive a 10% discount on all purchases. Friends members always receive a 10% discount on all purchases.
